Painted Letters!

You probably remember that last year we got some G & G letters to use at the wedding which arrived back in November.

I finally got round to painting them at the same time as I was doing the table name frames and I love how they turned out.
We are going to use them on the cake table; then keep them after the wedding to put somewhere in the flat!

Table Names & Table Plan

I wrote about our plan for the table names here and our list of possible names. We narrowed them down and since we only need 10 tables in total, we are using the following:

Empire State Building
Chrysler Building
Guggenheim Museum
Statue of Liberty
Rockefeller Center
Flatiron Building
Grand Central Station
United Nations Building
Trump World Tower
Brooklyn Bridge

The top table is the Empire State Building and the bridesmaids and ushers are sitting at the Chrysler Building!

Since we are having tall flower centrepieces on each table {except for the top table which will have low flowers}, I decided that I didnt want to use the normal table number holders that our venue has. Instead we bought square wooden frames from HobbyCraft that I painted with the purple paint we got for our G&G letters. I completed them all on Saturday and I think they all turned out great.
Inside each frame I put the table name on white sparkly paper which was then punched at the top with the Cityscape edge punch that we bo…

We can definitely get married!

I picked up our marriage schedule at the registrars this morning; which means we can definitely get married! When I was there I had to sign to say I had picked it up in a fountain pen, the same thing we will use on Saturday and they are hard to use! Maybe I should practice beforehand! He also reminded me that I have to sign my name as it just now and not my new surname! We will take the schedule to the rehearsal on Friday to give to the minister before Saturday. After the service he is going to deliver it to the registrars so we don't need to worry about it at the reception.

After lunch with bridesmaid Lucy and her daughter Emily, I picked up a few more things we needed; coloured pens for the guest book & plastic wallets to put the hings for each table in, as well as some toothbrushes, tissues & contact lens drops to take on honeymoon. On my way back to Edinburgh I had to go to HobbyCraft AGAIN to get more glue, then into the Body Shop to get some blotting tissues before ge…

1 week to go!

Just 7 days to go!

I have been busy today writing cheques for the last people that need paid; then I finished painting our letters and all of the frames that we are putting the table names in. They are all currently drying on the floor and I just need to do another coat on the & symbol! This week I also started stamping the questions into the guest book and got more grey paper to use as the backing for the Polaroid Pogo photo prints. I just need to get yet more glue tape pens then that will be the last DIY task completed!

I also spent the last half of the week preparing my portfolio for a job interview. I'm happy to say I got offered the job and providing my reference is OK, I will start just after our honeymoon! I'm really looking forward to this new challenge and so glad we now don't have to worry and can fully enjoy our honeymoon!

Recent Etsy purchases

I have been making many purchases on Etsy recently; most of which I cant share just now as they are gifts for our bridesmaids, best man & ushers.

However I have bought a couple of things for myself; a hair clip and a pair of earrings to wear either at the rehearsal or the day after the wedding {since I already have my tiara & diamonds to wear at the wedding}.

Simona Hair Clip (Image from here)
The hair clip came from Etsy seller Lulu Splendor and its gorgeous; quite small and delicate. It has a crocodile clip on the back so it will be easy to put in my hair. {I was originally going to get these for my bridesmaids but she wasn't going to be able to make them in time; since it is quite small I'm glad I went for the other hair combs that I found in accessorize instead.} She also has some other gorgeous jewellery in her store and the clip didnt take too long to come all the way from Oz.
Filigree & Pearl Earrings (Image from here)
The earrings were from Etsy seller K Garner De…

10 days to go!

Just 10 days till the wedding!

(Image from the knot)
I have been so busy the last couple of weeks but got lots done which was great.

I had my hair & make-up trials and my fantastic hen weekend. I picked up all of the bridesmaids dresses as well as the flowergirls dress from the cleaners {it came out lovely} and got her shoes too. I got my engagement ring cleaned and I'm going to pick it up today. I have also been buying bits and pieces for our honeymoon and I also got my typhoid injection for it too. Our tickets arrived for the honeymoon yesterday.

We have paid for lots of things in the last few weeks too including the photographer, venue, cars, chair covers, florist, seamstress and also the piper which we just booked last week. We have booked one to play when the guests arrive at the venue and to pipe us to the top table at dinner.

We have finished all of the order of service's and I have also printed an extra 30 without the card overlay in case we have additional guests at th…

My Wedding Ring

As I mentioned in my update post, we paid for and picked up our wedding rings a few weeks ago and I love how mine turned out.

Our Wedding Rings
We ordered both rings back in November; Graham chose a 5mm band in palladium and I got them to order the ring I had designed myself from images of different rings I liked.I gave them the image above as a guide {even though it was was the wrong flat shape} and asked them to make me a 3mm court shape band with 6 princess cut diamonds in platinum, to match my engagement ring which is a platinum court shape band with a square princess cut diamond solitaire.L-R: My Wedding Ring; With my Engagement RingI'm so pleased that I got my ring made as I now have an individual ring and exactly what I wanted. I cant wait to wear it properly in just 11 days! We also got them engraved at the jewellers and since I couldn't get too much on mine with the hallmark and the back of the diamonds inside, we just got our initials {G & G} and the wedding date {…

Something old, new, borrowed & blue!

I did a post about this tradition ages ago but thought it was time for an update since I now have everything sorted!

Old - My Grandmothers sapphire ring {she left me this ring when she died so I really wanted to wear it; I got the jewellers to clean it for me this week and it looks lovely & sparkly again}.
New - My dress; Although I could use almost everything im wearing; shoes, jewellery, veil, tiara etc!
Borrowed - The garter my mum wore at her wedding.
Blue - The sapphire ring would also count but my sister got me blue I Do rhinestones that can go on the bottom of my shoes.

...and I also have a sixpence for my shoe which my aunt gave me at my hen weekend!

Hen Weekend - Part 2

After a fabulous night on the Friday, me and my bridesmaids had to get up pretty early as we had a taxi booked for 10am to get us to their dress fitting appointment at 10.30am. I felt I really should go too since I had made the appointment since it was the only time both Ashleigh and Hazel would be up until the wedding. Some were a little worse for wear than others but we made it there and back no problem, and all of the dresses looked lovely.

We came back to the house for around 12pm and everyone else was up and ready, waiting for food! The venue provided us with a hangover brunch which was great. Afterwards we had a lovely lazy day, some went back to bed for a while, since we had another night ahead! My nephew Enzo had joined us too since Daddy and Grandad were heading up to Perth for Grahams stag night. The house had a hot tub in the garden so we thought we should check it out, despite the fact it was freezing outside! Thankfully it was so hot and was great fun for a little while. I…

Hen Weekend - Part 1

Following my hair and make-up trials last Friday, I went back home to pack for my hen weekend and to get ready for the evening ahead so that we didn't have to change when we arrived where we were going to be staying. I should note that all I knew at this point was that we were staying somewhere for 2 nights; going out in Edinburgh on the Friday night and staying in on the Saturday night.

I had started thinking a while ago about what I wanted to wear each night and, as per most of my going out wardrobe, I went to Coast knowing I would be able to find some fabulous pieces! I got a purple strapless dress and a gorgeous black pencil skirt in the sales in January which I was all set on wearing on the Friday then the Saturday respectively. I started to change my mind about the strapless dress for going out in Edinburgh as to me it felt a bit wedding guesty and I wasn't sure how comfortable I would feel all evening. So even though I still liked the dress, I returned it and got a gorge…

Hair & Make-up

So last Friday, after Ashleigh had been for her 1st bridesmaids dress fitting, we went to the hairdressers so I could have my hair trial. I had a rough idea of the sort of thing I wanted which I discussed with him before he got to work. He had some ideas of his own too which he brought into the style too. I had also taken my tiara with me so we could get an idea of how it would look.

The theory was something quite classic, low & bun like that wouldn't be too harsh or sleek either. My veil will be placed just above the bun, since its just a single tier, and so that it can be removed later on. {Obviously my tiara will be much better placed!} I really like how it turned out and think it will look great on the day.

After a lovely lunch we headed back to mums to wait for my make-up artist to arrive. Again I had some ideas about what look I wanted but I let Lynne do what she recommended as well.

I don't normally wear a lot of make-up so i was really pleased with the final result as…
